Youth Development Professional
Position Summary:
The Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Desert is seeking a passionate and energetic Youth Development Professional (YDP) to join our team in delivering impactful programs and activities for our youth members. The YDP will play a key role in creating a positive, supportive, and safe environment where children and teens can learn, grow, and develop essential life skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Implementation:
Facilitate and lead engaging activities and programs that align with the club’s mission to promote academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles.
Assist in the planning and organization of daily programs, ensuring that all activities are age-appropriate and meet the developmental needs of members.
Support special events, field trips, and other club activities as needed.
Youth Engagement & Mentorship:
Build positive, trusting relationships with youth members, acting as a mentor and role model.
Encourage active participation and engagement in all club activities.
Provide guidance and support to members, helping them set and achieve personal and academic goals.
Safety & Behavior Management:
Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of all members during programs and activities.
Address and manage behavioral issues promptly and effectively, following the club’s policies and procedures.
Promote a positive and inclusive environment where all members feel welcome and respected.
Communication & Collaboration:
Maintain open communication with parents, guardians, and school staff regarding members' progress and participation.
Collaborate with other YDPs and club staff to deliver cohesive and integrated programs.
Provide regular updates to the Program Director on program outcomes and member engagement.
Facility & Resource Management:
Ensure that program spaces are clean, organized, and well-maintained.
Manage program supplies and materials, reporting any needs to the Program Director.
Qualifications:
Previous experience working with children or teens in a youth development, educational, or recreational setting.
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Ability to develop and facilitate engaging, age-appropriate programs and activities.
Passion for working with youth and commitment to the mission of the Boys & Girls Club.
CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
